Making the Decision

Recognizing When It’s Time for a Change

It’s natural for families to wonder if moving a loved one into Assisted Living or Memory Care means they are letting them down. Choosing a supportive community can be one of the most compassionate steps you can take — ensuring safety, dignity and a better quality of life for everyone involved.

If you find yourself answering “yes” to questions like these, it may be time to consider the additional care and peace of mind Highview can provide:

DAILY ROUTINES
  • Does your loved one need help with dressing, bathing or eating?
  • Are everyday tasks becoming more difficult for them to manage?
  • Have you already considered, or started, hiring outside help?
Behavior
  • Are mood swings, anger or confusion becoming more frequent?
  • Is conversation becoming harder to follow or sustain?
  • Do they experience changes in behavior later in the day?
  • Are they wandering at night or withdrawing from social interaction?
Safety
  • Do you worry about leaving them home alone?
  • Have there been incidents like leaving the stove on or doors unlocked?
  • Are stairways, walkways or other parts of the home starting to feel unsafe?
  • Have they ever gotten lost or struggled to find their way home?
The team at Highview is here to help you explore the best next step with compassion and understanding.

Considering the Right Level of Care

Every person’s needs are different, and the right level of care depends on what will help your loved one feel safe, comfortable and engaged. Ask yourself:

  • What support is needed for daily routines like meals, medication or personal care?
  • Is their memory or behavior changing in ways that require more routine?
  • Are they getting enough social, physical and spiritual interaction to stay well?
At Highview, we offer two distinct care options designed to best meet your needs.

Assisted Living
For those who want the privacy of their own apartment with the reassurance of support nearby, our Assisted Living community provides daily help when needed, along with opportunities for independence, community and engagement.

Memory Care
For those living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, our Montessori-based Memory Wellness approach creates a safe, structured environment that supports dignity, sparks engagement and provides peace of mind for families.

Finding the Right Balance of Dignity, Independence and Safety

At Highview, dignity, comfort and safety work hand in hand to create a setting where residents — and families — can feel truly at ease.

  • A fully licensed facility with comprehensive safety and emergency systems
